Fruity and full-bodied with notes of blackberry and blackcurrant as well as a touch of spice. Silky in the mouth. A blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah.
Vendimia, Palacios Remondo, Rioja
Alvaro Palacios is perhaps more famous for his work in Priorat but the Chateau Petrus graduate also makes this amazingly well-priced Rioja. An unusually high percentage of Grenache (50%) features in the blend with Tempranillo. The bunches are fermented whole (the stems absorb the harsh tannins) and the wine spends less than 6 months in barrel before bottling. Soft vanilla and spice notes lie behind the dense core of jammy, dark berry fruit – amazing with Friday’s pork belly!
Emphasising its Pinot Noir parentage, this Pinotage offers abundant fresh cherries, ripe plums and a hint of spice and smoke with a smooth, lingering finish. An exceptionally food friendly wine, it pairs well with barbeques and other rare beef or game dishes. In summer enjoy slightly chilled.
Los Frailes, Monastrell
Deep in colour, with abundant amounts of blackberry, strawberry and cherry fruit with some balsamic nuances. On the palate, savoury, gamey with rounded tannins and a slight herbal finish. Certified organic.
2016 Beaujolais-Village, Lantignie, Alexandre Bergaud
The nose delivers everything one wants from Beaujolais-Villages: red berry and floral aromas, with a hint of kirsch. Alex now has five hectares in Lantignié, where the combination of venerable vines (some a century old) and granite soils contributes a complex, mineral character to his wine.
Clos La Coutale Cahors Malbec 2015
This deep ruby coloured wine has aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and prune. Dry and medium bodied it has a fresh finish with mint and vanilla. Ideal with pork chops and roasted meats.
Famille Perrin Blanc, Reserve, Côtes du Luberon
An ideal aperitif wine, made by this famous producer using unusual native varieties such as Bourboulenc, Ugni Blanc and Grenache Blanc. This is an aromatic and mouth-watering wine displaying citrus fruit and spring flowers.
Lyrarakis, Assyrtiko Voila 2017
From a small family winery who discovered the potential of east Crete in the 1970s. Sourced from an unirrigated single vineyard, this Assyrtiko is lovely and fresh with floral aromas, ginger spices and delicate notes of ripe citrus. The textured palate has a crispy and rich mouthfeel with a mineral and chalky character.
MJ Janeil, Gros Manseng-Sauvignon 2013 Vintage
Produced in the South-West of France using innovative and natural methods, this 2013 vintage is characterized by the freshness of both its climate and its wine. The grapes were harvested at their aromatic peak resulting in an a fresh, explosive bouquet filled with aromas of white peach, citrus & flowers whilst the taste is an elegant balance of fresh fruit and acacia with notes of lime. Fresh and very easy to drink!
Valdibella, Munir Catarratto
The Valdibella team emphasise the importance of the ancient variety Catarratto which is a traditional and flagship wine for them. Grown by a farming c0-0p on organically certified vineyards in Sicily, the Munir is golden in colour, weighted in the mouth with fresh acidity and displays notes of lemon sherbert and hints of herb, spice and citrus.
