Red wine

2013 L’Oustalet Rouge Perrin, Rhone
Named after the famous restaurant in Gigondas, the L’Oustalet is a blend of Syrah and Grenache sourced from various communes across the Southern Rhone. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats to retain the freshness. The emphasis is very much on the fruit – medium bodies, packed full of bright, red fruit some spicy notes and soft tannins.
2013 Vendimia, Palacios Remondo
Alvaro Palacios is perhaps more famous for his work in Priorat but the Chateau Petrus graduate also makes this amazingly well-priced Rioja. An unusually high percentage of Grenache (50%) features in the blend with Tempranillo. The bunches are fermented whole (the stems absorb the harsh tannins) and the wine spends less than 6 months in barrel before bottling. Soft vanilla and spice notes lie behind the dense core of jammy, dark berry fruit – amazing with Friday’s pork belly!

White wine

2013 L’Oustalet Perrin Blanc, Rhone
A blend of equal parts of organically-farmed Marsanne and Viognier sourced from various Southern Rhone communes including Chateauneuf and Gigondas. Like the red, the white is fermented in stainless steel and shows delicate white blossom and floral notes on the nose and apple and stonefruit on the palate. Satisfying, crisp and dry.

2015 Maison Williams Chase
£15.00 (Magnum £32)
Light salmon pink in colour and crisp, fresh and fruity - a tribute to Provence. Beautifully balanced, it boasts wonderful stone fruit aromas, white peach and grapefruit combined with an underlying essence of crushed strawberries and Provençal herbs. The smooth and creamy texture sits in harmony with a steely minerality leading to a long, refreshing, lingering finish.
